Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 pound
- Taco seasoning: 1 packet (1 ounce)
- Cooked rice: 2 cups
- Shredded cheddar cheese: 1 cup
- Crushed Doritos (Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch): 1 large bag
- Shredded lettuce: 2 cups
- Diced tomatoes: 1 cup
- Sour cream: 1/2 cup
Instructions
- Step 1: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Step 2: Add the taco seasoning and the amount of water indicated on the seasoning packet instructions to the cooked ground beef. Stir well and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed.
- Step 3: In a bowl, layer the cooked rice, seasoned ground beef, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes.
- Step 4: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and crushed Doritos over the top.
- Step 5: Drizzle with sour cream and serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover components separately in airtight containers for best texture and to prevent sogginess.
- Reheat the ground beef in a skillet or microwave before assembling your bowl to keep the Doritos crunchy.
- For a zesty twist, add a squeeze of lime juice and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro before serving.
- Don't overcook the ground beef after adding the taco seasoning; simmering gently ensures maximum flavor absorption without drying it out.
