Ingredients
- Vanilla Wafers: 1 (12-ounce) box
- Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix: 2 (3.4-ounce) packages
- Milk: 4 cups, cold
- Bananas: 3, sliced
- Strawberries: 1 pint, sliced
- Whipped Topping: 1 (8-ounce) container, thawed
- Strawberry Glaze: 1/4 cup (optional)
- Chopped Nuts: 1/4 cup (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until well combined. Let it stand for 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
- Step 2: Gently fold in half of the thawed whipped topping into the pudding mixture. This will lighten the pudding and make it extra creamy.
- Step 3: In a trifle bowl or large glass bowl, create a layer of vanilla wafers on the bottom. Top with a layer of sliced bananas and strawberries.
- Step 4: Spread half of the pudding mixture evenly over the fruit layer. Repeat the layers: vanilla wafers, bananas, strawberries, and the remaining pudding mixture.
- Step 5: Top the final layer of pudding with the remaining whipped topping.
- Step 6: Drizzle with strawberry glaze (optional) and sprinkle with chopped nuts (optional). Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the wafers to soften.
Notes
- To prevent the pudding from becoming soggy, add the banana slices just before assembling the trifle.
- For best results, cover the pudding tightly and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- This dessert is best served chilled; individual portions can be made ahead of time in small jars for easy serving.
- If you don't have strawberry glaze, a simple strawberry jam thinned with a little water works beautifully.
