Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf Italian bread, round
- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1 (24 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Cut a circle out of the top of the Italian bread loaf, being careful not to cut all the way through. Hollow out the inside of the bread, leaving a 1-inch thick shell. Brush the inside and outside of the bread bowl with olive oil.
- Step 2: In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Sprinkle the garlic mixture evenly inside the bread bowl.
- Step 3: Place the bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and garlic is fragrant.
- Step 4: While the bread bowl is baking, cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain well.
- Step 5: Heat spaghetti sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in red pepper flakes (optional). Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
- Step 6: Carefully fill the baked garlic bread bowl with the spaghetti and sauce mixture. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover filled bowls in the refrigerator, but be aware the bread will soften over time.
- To reheat, cover loosely with foil and warm in a 300°F oven to prevent the bread from drying out.
- Garnish with extra Parmesan and a sprig of parsley for a restaurant-worthy presentation.
- For extra flavor, sauté the minced garlic in the olive oil for a minute before brushing it inside the bread bowl.
