Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups frozen peach slices
- 1/2 cup peach nectar or white grape juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
- 1/8 teaspoon salt (optional, to enhance sweetness)
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the base liquid by combining the peach nectar (or juice), granulated sugar, and fresh lemon juice in the bottom of a high-powered blender pitcher. Stir briefly until the sugar begins to dissolve.
- Step 2: Add the frozen peach slices, ice cubes, and the pinch of salt to the blender pitcher over the liquid base.
- Step 3: Secure the lid and begin blending on a low setting, gradually increasing the speed to high. Use a tamper (if available) to push the frozen ingredients down toward the blades, ensuring they blend evenly.
- Step 4: Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and reaches a thick, slushy consistency, similar to a commercial slurpee. This may take 1 to 2 minutes, stopping once or twice to scrape down the sides of the pitcher if necessary.
- Step 5: Taste the mixture and add 1-2 teaspoons of additional sugar or a splash of liquid if the slurpee is too thick. Immediately pour the "Refreshing Homemade Peach Slurpees" into chilled glasses and serve with wide straws.
Notes
- Since slurpees melt quickly, freeze any leftovers in a freezer-safe container and re-blend with a tablespoon of juice or nectar when you are ready for a slushy refill.
- If your blend is too thin, add 3-4 extra frozen peach slices or a couple more ice cubes and blend again until the perfect thick, spoonable consistency is achieved.
- For an extra elegant presentation, float a fresh raspberry or a small mint sprig on top of the slurpee before serving it in a chilled glass.
- For the best flavor, taste your frozen peaches first; if they are already very sweet, reduce the starting amount of sugar or simple syrup by half, reserving the rest for flavor adjustments.
