Ingredients
- Frozen french fries: 20 oz bag
- Ribeye steak, thinly sliced: 1 lb
- Onion, sliced: 1 medium
- Green bell pepper, sliced: 1 medium
- Provolone cheese slices: 8 slices
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper: 1/2 teaspoon
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the frozen french fries on a baking sheet and bake according to package directions until golden brown and crispy.
- Step 2: While the fries are baking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and green bell pepper and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Step 3: Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet with the onions and peppers. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until the steak is cooked through and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Step 4: Once the fries are cooked, remove them from the oven. Arrange half of the fries on a platter or large serving dish.
- Step 5: Top the fries with half of the steak and vegetable mixture, and then layer with four slices of provolone cheese. Repeat with the remaining fries, steak mixture, and cheese.
- Step 6: Place the platter under the broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Watch carefully to prevent burning. Remove from broiler, let cool slightly and serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover steak and veggies separately from the fries to prevent sogginess, and refrigerate both within two hours.
- To reheat, broil the steak and veggie mix separately and then assemble over freshly crisped fries for best results.
- Garnish with chopped parsley or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a vibrant look and added flavor.
- For optimal steak tenderness, ensure the ribeye is sliced very thinly against the grain.
