Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream (optional, for extra smoothness)
Instructions
- Step 1: Place the softened butter in a mixing bowl. Ensure the butter is at room temperature for optimal creaminess.
- Step 2: Using an electric mixer (handheld or stand mixer), beat the butter on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Step 3: Gradually add the maple syrup to the butter, beating on low speed until fully incorporated. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Step 4: Add the vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and powdered sugar. Mix on low speed until everything is well combined. If using, add the heavy cream at this stage and mix until smooth.
- Step 5: Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat for another minute until the maple butter is light and airy.
- Step 6: Transfer the maple butter to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator. Allow it to firm up slightly before serving.
Notes
- Store maple butter in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, but let it soften slightly at room temperature before spreading for best results.
- For a quick reheat, microwave in 5-second intervals, stirring in between, until softened, being careful not to melt it.
- Drizzle maple butter over warm pancakes or waffles, or spread it on toast for a delightful breakfast treat.
- For a richer flavor, try browning the butter before whipping for a nutty depth that complements the maple syrup beautifully.
