The ultimate sweet-heat glaze! Our Mango Habanero Honey Garlic Sauce balances tropical fruit and fiery pepper with savory honey-garlic notes.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh ripe mango, diced
  • 1/2 cup liquid honey
  • 12 habanero peppers, seeded and minced (adjust quantity for desired heat)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and habanero peppers, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to brown the garlic.
  2. Step 2: Add the diced mango, honey, apple cider vinegar, water, and kosher salt to the saucepan. Bring the mixture to a low boil, then immediately reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook uncovered for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mango is very soft.
  3. Step 3: Carefully transfer the entire contents of the saucepan to a high-powered blender or use an immersion blender. Blend the mixture until it is completely smooth and no mango chunks or pepper pieces remain.
  4. Step 4: Pour the blended sauce back into the saucepan. Bring the sauce back to a very low simmer and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, stirring frequently, to allow the sauce to thicken slightly and the flavors to fully meld.
  5. Step 5: Remove the sauce from the heat and allow it to cool completely before serving. The sauce will thicken further as it cools. Store the finished Mango Habanero Honey Garlic Sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

  • For maximum longevity and flavor retention, ensure the sauce is fully cooled before sealing it in an airtight jar; it keeps beautifully in the fridge for up to two weeks.
  • If the chilled sauce is too thick for drizzling, warm it gently in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring in a splash of water or vinegar to restore its desired flow consistency.
  • This vibrant sweet-heat sauce is excellent as a finishing glaze for grilled chicken breast or try mixing a spoonful into mayonnaise for a dynamic sandwich spread.
  • Chef's Tip: To avoid dulling the habanero's freshness, limit the second simmer (Step 4) to just 5-7 minutes; this allows the sauce to thicken without cooking out the bright pepper flavor.
