Ingredients
- Cream cheese, softened: 8 ounces
- Heavy cream: 1 cup
- Powdered sugar: 1/2 cup
- Unsweetened cocoa powder: 1/4 cup
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
- Semisweet chocolate chips, melted and cooled: 4 ounces
- Pinch of salt: 1/8 teaspoon
- Chocolate shavings (for garnish): Optional
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Step 2: Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder to the cream cheese, mixing until well combined and free of lumps. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Step 3: In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
- Step 4: Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture, being careful not to deflate the cream.
- Step 5: Add the melted and cooled chocolate, vanilla extract, and salt. Fold gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 6: Spoon or pipe the mousse into individual serving dishes or glasses. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours before serving. Garnish with chocolate shavings, if desired.
Notes
- For longer storage, tightly cover the mousse and it will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- This mousse is best served cold; reheating is not recommended as it may alter the texture.
- Serve this decadent mousse with fresh raspberries for a delightful contrast in flavor and texture.
- Make sure your melted chocolate is fully cooled before adding it to prevent the whipped cream from deflating.
