Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Step 2: Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Step 3: Stir in the orzo pasta, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Step 4: Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the orzo is cooked through and the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Step 5: Remove from heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese (if using). Serve hot.
