Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 pound
- Orzo pasta: 1 cup
- Onion: 1 medium, chopped
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Diced tomatoes: 1 (14.5 ounce) can, undrained
- Beef broth: 2 cups
- Italian seasoning: 1 teaspoon
- Salt and pepper: to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Step 2: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Step 3: Stir in the orzo pasta, diced tomatoes (undrained), beef broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Step 4: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the orzo is cooked through and the liquid is absorbed.
- Step 5: Fluff with a fork and serve hot.
Notes
- Store leftover Ground Beef Orzo in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of broth if needed to loosen it up.
- Garnish with a dollop of sour cream or a sprinkle of fresh parsley for added flavor and visual appeal.
- For a richer flavor, try browning the ground beef with a tablespoon of tomato paste before adding the onion and garlic.
