Delicious fluffy & healthy greek yogurt bagels recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (non-fat or low-fat)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for slight sweetness)
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Everything bagel seasoning, poppy seeds, or sesame seeds (for topping)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Step 2: In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, self-rising flour, baking powder, and salt. Add honey (if using) and Greek yogurt to the dry ingredients.
  3. Step 3: Mix until a shaggy dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. The dough should not be too sticky. If it is, add a little more flour, 1 tablespoon at a time.
  4. Step 4: Divide the dough into 4-6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope, then form into a bagel shape by joining the ends and pinching to seal.
  5. Step 5: Brush the tops of the bagels with the beaten egg and sprinkle generously with your desired toppings (everything bagel seasoning, poppy seeds, or sesame seeds).
  6. Step 6: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Store cooled bagels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for longer storage.
  • For a warm and chewy bagel, reheat in the microwave for 15-20 seconds or toast until slightly crisp.
  • Slice the bagels and spread with cream cheese, avocado, or your favorite sandwich toppings for a satisfying meal.
  • If your dough is too sticky to handle, lightly flour your hands as you knead – this prevents adding too much flour to the dough itself.
