Delicious easy turtle bars recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup butterscotch chips
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to lift the finished bars out easily.
  2. Step 2: In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, and melted butter. Mix until evenly moistened. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine semi-sweet chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and chopped nuts.
  4. Step 4: In a small bowl, stir together sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract. Pour the condensed milk mixture evenly over the graham cracker crust. Sprinkle the chocolate chip and nut mixture evenly over the wet condensed milk.
  5. Step 5: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the topping is melted and bubbly.
  6. Step 6: Let the bars cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Store leftover Turtle Bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • For a warm, gooey treat, microwave individual bars for 10-15 seconds, or until heated through.
  • These bars are delightful served slightly chilled with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
  • To prevent the bottom crust from becoming soggy, ensure the melted butter is fully incorporated into the graham cracker crumbs before pressing into the pan.
