  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Ground beef: 1 pound
  • Lasagna noodles: 1 box (oven-ready preferred)
  • Marinara sauce: 24 ounces
  • Ricotta cheese: 15 ounces
  • Mozzarella cheese: 16 ounces, shredded
  • Parmesan cheese: 1/2 cup, grated
  • Egg: 1 large
  • Dried oregano: 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess grease. Stir in the marinara sauce and oregano. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Step 2: In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  3. Step 3: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Step 4: Layer lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, then half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese.
  5. Step 5: Top with remaining meat sauce and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Step 6: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For easier slicing, let the lasagna cool for at least 20 minutes before serving – it will hold its shape better.
  • Reheat individual slices in the microwave with a splash of water to keep the noodles from drying out.
  • Store leftover lasagna in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days for best quality.
  • Don't skip the simmering step for the meat sauce; it really allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.
