Ingredients
Scale
- 32 ounces frozen French fries (shoestring or steak cut)
- 2 cups shredded, cooked chicken (rotisserie or boiled chicken breast)
- 6 strips turkey or beef beef bacon de dinde (turkey beef bacon), cooked until crispy and crumbled
- 1 cup prepared nacho cheese sauce (or sharp cheddar sauce)
- 1/4 cup smoky barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (chives)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange the frozen fries in a single layer on a large baking sheet and cook according to package directions, typically 18-25 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
- Step 2: While the fries cook, prepare the meat filling. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, if necessary, and add the shredded chicken. Stir in the 1/4 cup of smoky barbecue sauce until the chicken is fully coated and heated through. Set aside.
- Step 3: Once the fries are cooked, remove them from the oven. Evenly distribute the barbecue-coated chicken mixture over the hot fries. Drizzle the cup of nacho cheese sauce generously over the chicken and fries, ensuring even coverage.
- Step 4: Sprinkle the crumbled crispy turkey/beef turkey bacon over the top layer of cheese and meat. Return the loaded fries to the oven for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese sauce is bubbling and all ingredients are thoroughly heated together.
- Step 5: Carefully remove the loaded fries from the oven. Garnish immediately with the chopped green onions before serving hot.
Notes
- To minimize sogginess, store any substantial leftovers of the loaded fries mixture separately from the nacho cheese sauce in the refrigerator.
- Reheat leftover fries and toppings in an air fryer or conventional oven at 350°F (175°C) until hot, avoiding the microwave which guarantees a soggy texture.
- Elevate the "dirty" factor by offering a side of cooling sour cream, ranch dressing, or a sprinkle of pickled jalapeños for those who want a spicy kick.
- For optimal texture, cook your fries 2-3 minutes longer than the package suggests in Step 1, ensuring maximum crispness that can withstand the heavy layers of sauce and meat.
