Ingredients
- Water: 1 cup
- Unsalted Butter: 6 tablespoons
- Granulated Sugar: 1/4 cup
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- All-Purpose Flour: 1 cup
- Eggs: 2 large
- Vegetable Oil Spray: as needed
- Ground Cinnamon: 2 tablespoons
- Granulated Sugar: 1/2 cup (for coating)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil spray.
- Step 2: In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until butter is melted.
- Step 3: Remove from heat and immediately add the flour. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until a smooth dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Step 4: Let the dough cool for a few minutes. Then, beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
- Step 5: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe small mounds (about 1 inch in diameter) onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Step 6: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. While the churro bites are baking, combine the cinnamon and sugar in a shallow dish. Once the churro bites are baked, immediately toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly. Serve warm.
Notes
- Store leftover churro bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, but they're best enjoyed fresh!
- For a warm, crispy treat the next day, reheat the churro bites in a 350°F (175°C) oven for a few minutes.
- Serve these delicious bites with a rich chocolate dipping sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra special treat.
- Make sure the dough has cooled slightly before adding the eggs to prevent them from scrambling!
