Delicious country fried beef chops with turkey bacon gravy recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Beef chuck chops, about 1/2 inch thick: 4
  • All-purpose flour: 1 cup
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Eggs: 2, beaten
  • Turkey bacon: 6 slices
  • Milk: 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Dredge each beef chop in the flour mixture, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally dredge again in the flour mixture, ensuring each chop is fully coated.
  2. Step 2: Fry the turkey bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon and set aside, reserving the bacon fat in the skillet. Crumble the cooked bacon.
  3. Step 3: In the same skillet with the turkey bacon fat, carefully place the breaded beef chops. Fry for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chops and set aside.
  4. Step 4: Leave about 2 tablespoons of turkey bacon fat in the skillet. Whisk in 1/4 cup of the reserved flour mixture from dredging the chops and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, to create a roux.
  5. Step 5: Gradually whisk in the milk into the roux, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the crumbled turkey bacon.
  6. Step 6: Serve the country fried beef chops immediately, smothered with the turkey bacon gravy.

Notes

  • Store leftover beef chops and gravy separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to prevent sogginess.
  • To reheat, bake the beef chops in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through, and gently reheat the gravy in a saucepan over low heat, adding a splash of milk if needed to thin.
  • Serve these hearty chops with mashed potatoes or creamy polenta to soak up all that delicious gravy.
  • For extra crispy chops, let them rest on a wire rack after frying, allowing excess oil to drip off and preventing them from steaming in their own heat.
