Ingredients
- Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced: 6 medium
- Pineapple juice: 1/2 cup
- All-purpose flour: 1 cup
- Rolled oats: 3/4 cup
- Brown sugar: 1/2 cup
- Granulated sugar: 1/4 cup
- Butter, cold and cubed: 1/2 cup (1 stick)
- Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch baking dish.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples and pineapple juice. Toss to coat evenly. Arrange the apple mixture in the prepared baking dish.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
- Step 4: Cut in the cold butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry blender or your fingers, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Step 5: Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
- Step 6: Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Store leftover apple crumble in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, covered tightly.
- For a warm and gooey treat, reheat individual portions in the microwave for 30-60 seconds.
- Serve warm apple crumble with a dollop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
- Make sure the butter is very cold before cutting it into the dry ingredients; this creates a flakier, more tender topping.
