Delicious chinese beef and broccoli recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced: 1 pound
  • Broccoli florets: 4 cups
  • Soy sauce: 1/4 cup
  • Oyster sauce: 2 tablespoons
  • Cornstarch: 2 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar: 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic, minced: 2 cloves
  • Ginger, minced: 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a bowl, marinate the beef with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Step 2: In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and remaining cornstarch. Set aside.
  3. Step 3: Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
  4. Step 4: Add the broccoli florets to the wok and stir-fry for about 3 minutes, until they turn bright green and are slightly tender-crisp. Add a tablespoon of water if needed to help steam the broccoli.
  5. Step 5: Add the minced garlic and ginger to the wok and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  6. Step 6: Return the beef to the wok. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes. Serve immediately over rice.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For best results, reheat in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water if the sauce has thickened too much.
  • Serve over steamed jasmine rice and garnish with toasted sesame seeds for extra flavor and texture.
  • To prevent tough beef, ensure your wok is screaming hot before adding the marinated sirloin, stir-frying in small batches if needed.
