Delicious baked cabbage steaks recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Green cabbage, 1 medium head
  • Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic powder, 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder, 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt, 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons (optional)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Step 2: Remove any outer damaged leaves from the cabbage. Carefully cut the cabbage into 1-inch thick "steaks," keeping the core intact so the steaks hold together.
  3. Step 3: In a small bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Step 4: Brush both sides of each cabbage steak with the olive oil mixture.
  5. Step 5: Place the cabbage steaks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until tender and slightly browned.
  6. Step 6: If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese during the last 5 minutes of baking. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Store leftover baked cabbage steaks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat cabbage steaks in a 350°F (175°C) oven or air fryer for best results, as microwaving can make them soggy.
  • Serve these cabbage steaks as a delicious and healthy side dish alongside roasted chicken, grilled sausage, or a hearty lentil soup.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a splash of balsamic vinegar to the olive oil mixture before brushing the cabbage.
