Ingredients
- Green cabbage, 1 medium head
- Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
- Garlic powder, 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder, 1 teaspoon
- Smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt, 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon
- Grated Parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2: Remove any outer damaged leaves from the cabbage. Carefully cut the cabbage into 1-inch thick "steaks," keeping the core intact so the steaks hold together.
- Step 3: In a small bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Step 4: Brush both sides of each cabbage steak with the olive oil mixture.
- Step 5: Place the cabbage steaks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until tender and slightly browned.
- Step 6: If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese during the last 5 minutes of baking. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover baked cabbage steaks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat cabbage steaks in a 350°F (175°C) oven or air fryer for best results, as microwaving can make them soggy.
- Serve these cabbage steaks as a delicious and healthy side dish alongside roasted chicken, grilled sausage, or a hearty lentil soup.
- For extra flavor, try adding a splash of balsamic vinegar to the olive oil mixture before brushing the cabbage.
