Ingredients
- Pre-made pizza dough: 1 pound
- Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and thinly sliced: 3 medium
- Brown sugar: 1/2 cup
- All-purpose flour: 1/4 cup
- Rolled oats: 1/2 cup
- Butter, cold and cubed: 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons)
- Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Caramel sauce: 1/4 cup
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a large baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Step 2: Roll out the pizza dough to fit the baking sheet. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.
- Step 3: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Toss gently to coat the apples evenly.
- Step 4: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and cold cubed butter. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Step 5: Spread the apple mixture evenly over the pizza dough. Sprinkle the oat crumble topping over the apples.
- Step 6: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
Notes
- Store leftover apple crisp pizza in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
- For best results, reheat individual slices in a toaster oven or skillet to maintain the crust's crispness.
- A scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream complements the warm apple and caramel flavors beautifully.
- Chef's secret: Chilling the dough for 15 minutes before adding toppings prevents a soggy crust.
