Ingredients
- Baguette: 1 large, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
- Olive Oil: 1/4 cup, extra virgin
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Cherry Tomatoes: 1 pint, halved
- Fresh Basil: 1/4 cup, chopped
- Balsamic Glaze: 2 tablespoons
- Ricotta Cheese: 8 ounces, whole milk
- Prosciutto: 4 ounces, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet. Brush lightly with olive oil.
- Step 2: Bake baguette slices for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden and crisp. Let cool slightly.
- Step 3: While the bread cools, prepare your toppings. For the tomato-basil topping, combine halved cherry tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Step 4: For the ricotta and prosciutto topping, spread a thin layer of ricotta cheese on some of the cooled crostini. Top with a small piece of prosciutto. Drizzle with a tiny bit of balsamic glaze.
- Step 5: Assemble remaining crostini with desired toppings, such as the tomato-basil mixture. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Store leftover toppings separately from the crostini to prevent sogginess, and keep the bread in an airtight container.
- Reheat plain crostini briefly in a low oven (around 300°F) for a minute or two to restore their crispness, before adding toppings.
- Arrange the crostini artfully on a platter, varying the toppings for a vibrant and visually appealing presentation that entices your guests.
- For maximum flavor, gently rub a raw garlic clove over the warm crostini before adding any toppings – it elevates the whole experience!
